How big a cake do I need?
There are a number of considerations when deciding on the size of the cake such as:
What kind of event is it?
How many guests do you need to serve?
Are there other desserts being served?
Do you want to have any leftovers?
Who will be cutting the cake?

Can my wedding florist provide flowers for my cake?
Yes, this is recommended as it is the most cost effective and they will be guaranteed to match the rest of your floral elements. However, I do not allow anyone else to add flowers to a cake made by Butter. If your florist is providing flowers they must be set aside in some water and I will prep and arrange them on the cake after delivery.
Does my cake/buttercream flavour affect the design?
Most of our cakes are covered in ivory buttercream which completely covers the inside of the cake so you can choose whatever you want without effecting the design of the cake.
How far in advance should I order?
For custom cakes a minimum of one month is required. For weddings I recommend getting in touch 6 months before your wedding date (or even earlier if you are getting married in peak season).
My celebration cake range can be ordered with as little as 3 days notice. You can find the collection here.
Do I have to pay now?
A 30% non-refundable booking fee is required to secure your order. The remaining balance is due one month before your event.
How much is a cake from Butter?
As every is designed individually pricing varies based on size and design. Custom cakes start from $500 however on average couples spend $1000 for their wedding cake.
During peak wedding seasons (March - May and September - November) we have a minimum order value of $750.

Will you deliver my cake?
Yes, delivery can be arranged for a fee based on your event location. Otherwise cakes can be picked up from Wallsend.
Please note, any cake of more than one tier must be delivered and cannot be picked up.
Do you deliver outside of Newcastle/Hunter Valley?
Yes. I can deliver further afield. Orders further than the Central Coast, Lower Hunter or Port Stephens have a minimum order value of $1800.
For any venue further than 3 hours from Butter HQ additional travel fees will apply as an overnight stay is required.
Do you have gluten/egg/dairy free or vegan options?
Unfortunately Butter is not able to cater for dietary requirements.
Do you use fondant?
No, I do not use fondant in any way for my designs. If you are after a fondant covered cake or fondant decorations I suggest you try one of the other talented bakers in the area who specialise in those kinds of designs.
